Online Workshop: Recent Developments in the CIS world over the last 12 months

A deep-dive review of the past year’s most important advances in CMOS image sensors, led by renowned expert Albert Theuwissen.

Monday, 9 March 2026 | 15:00–18:30 GMT / 16:00–19:30 CET/ 11:00–14:30 EST

Online Workshop Overview

The world of CMOS image sensors is changing at a pace we have never seen before. New applications, technologies, and features are constantly being added to the broad portfolio of CMOS devices available on the market. As a result, both the performance and the possibilities of these devices continue to improve.

Building on several past Image Sensors Europe conferences, a Masterclass was organised to explore recent developments in the CIS field. Due to its success, Albert Theuwissen and Smithers have created this follow-up 3.5-hour online Masterclass to review the past year (March 2025–March 2026) and report on the latest developments, with a dedicated Q&A session.

Topics to be discussed include ultra-small pixels, new stacked devices, global shutter architectures, high dynamic range techniques, and updates from the SPAD and quantum dot (QD) domains. Late-breaking news presented at IEDM 2025, EI 2026, and ISSCC 2026 will also be covered. At the time of writing, additional topics not yet announced are expected to be included, as CIS technology continues to evolve rapidly. Exciting times lie ahead for imaging engineers and the wider imaging community.
